The Women’s Sport Trust has announced the appointment of a new trustee and three board apprentices.
Alice Dearing, Shruti Saujani and Gemma Woor have joined the organization as board apprentices. Dearing is a former British Olympic swimmer and founder of Black Girls Swim; Saujani works at the Football Association in an equality, diversity and inclusion role; and Woor is business director at agency MKTG.
“We have an ambitious vision that requires a wide range of skills and I’m confident our current group has exactly that,” said Tammy Parlour, Women’s Sport Trust chief executive officer and co-founder. “Our new apprenticeship program reflects our commitment to developing future leaders who will help drive lasting change in women’s sport.”
Each new board apprentice will have a board mentor during the 18-month program.
“Our apprenticeship scheme is about investing in future talent,” said Suzy Levy, chair of the Board of Trustees. “By opening up boardroom experience to a wider range of voices, we’re helping to shape a stronger, more inclusive future for sport.”
Joining the Board of Trustees is Ali Donnelly, director of corporate affairs at England Rugby. Donnelly has held senior communications and marketing roles across sports and government, including Sport England. She was also chief executive officer of the motorsport startup More than Equal, which aims to support female drivers into the world of F1. Laura Weston, co-founder of See You At Jeanie’s, will step down from the board after seven years of service.
“Laura has been a huge part of the Women’s Sport Trust story and we’re incredibly grateful for her time, passion and dedication,” Parlour said. “She has helped shape who we are and we thank her immensely for everything she’s brought to the charity.”
